Bedfordshire Cricket aims to make cricket accessible to all within the county. We feel that everyone has the right to play and learn the game of cricket in a safe and enjoyable environment.
2016 opportunities:
- Chance to Shine Building Sustainable Cricket in Special Schools – once again, we will be working with 5 schools engaged and 66 hours delivered to 65 participants
- Special School Cricket League – 5 special schools across the county will be taking part in the cricket league at 4 community club grounds around the county. 2 competitions KS3 & KS 4&5 with the final rounds on the Tuesday of National Cricket Week
- County Winter Games – we ran the Table Cricket tournament for county’s winter games event in March with 8 teams attending from across the county
- Bedford College Foundation Programme – 3 hour sessions were delivered to Foundation students at Bedford College during March. We are trying to arrange delivery of more sessions before the end of term
- Visually Impaired – 3 taster sessions due to run at Flitwick Leisure Centre in March had to be cancelled owing to lack of numbers. However, our coaches undertook a 2 hour CPD VI awareness session run by Sight Concern. We will be working with them to organise sessions for this client group in Luton in the Autumn
- Mencap – delivery of Kwik Cricket sessions to participants during their summer school has been arranged for July
- Lords Taverners Disability Cricket Champions Programme – during the last 6 months we have been in discussion with Lord’s Taverners, Norfolk and Cambs regarding developing a regional LTDCC programme. We are aiming to work with 2 hubs in the autumn and into the New Year.
