Youth cricket in Bedfordshire is organised by the Bedfordshire Youth League - a county-wide competition for children at Under 10, 12, 14 and 16. The League runs at two levels:
- County Leagues - primarily aimed at the performance level players
- Development Leagues - aimed at participation.
Games are played on Sunday mornings (U10s and U12s) and Tuesdays (U14) and Thursdays (U16).
U10s cricket is played in pairs format. The game is 10 players per side, each pair bats for 4 overs from pairs with a minimum of 5 bowlers being used. The County League is played with a 4 3/4 oz 'hard' cricket ball and the Development League with a 4 3/4 oz 'Incrediball' (soft cricket ball).
Under 12 Development Cricket remains as a 'pairs' game but with a hard ball and the County League is a standard 20 over format of the game. Under 14 and 16 cricket is also standard 20-over hard-ball cricket.
Cup competitions are also run across the county at Under 13 and Under 15 with county winners going on to enter the ECB National Club Championship at U13 and U15.
Fixtures, tables and a list of participating clubs can be viewed at the Beds Youth League Play-Cricket web site.
